Getaway to the Merzouga Desert
Day 1- Marrakech – Dades Valley
Departure from Marrakech airport in 4×4, we will cross the High Atlas mountains, through the highest port in the country Tizi in Tichka (2,260m altitude), we will pass through interesting villages until we reach the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987), a fortified enclosure within a walled town that you will surely recognize, since this citadel has been the setting for such famous films as Gladiator, Sahara, Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, among many others. After visiting this kasbah, we will pass through Ouarzazate and the impressive palm grove of Skoura until we reach the Dades Valley. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel located in the Dades Gorges.
Day 2 – Dades Valley – Merzouga Desert
The next day after breakfast, we will continue our route passing through many Berber villages. We will visit the Todra Gorges and the possibility of eating there, to take advantage of and see the impressive place with tranquility. Once the visit is over, from there we will go directly to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, where we will change the 4×4 for the 8×8, they are the dromedaries, we will make a stop to watch the sunset until you reach the heart of the desert. Upon arrival, an excellent and refreshing tea awaits you, an exquisite Berber dinner and all this enlivened with the music of the tam-tam (drums), you are going to enjoy a unique night, thanks to the large number of stars that populate the desert nights. We will sleep in a Berber haima.
Day 3 – Merzouga desert – Marrakech
Today, it is mandatory to get up early to see the sunrise from the top of the dunes and return with dromedaries to the hostel to have breakfast and shower. Departure by desert road to the Draa Valley, made up of more than 10 million palm trees. Depending on the time of the flight, we will make more or fewer stops. Return to Marrakech at the agreed time and end of the trip.
