
Sahara tour from Fez
Day 1 – DISCOVER FES
Pick up at the Fez Airport and transfer to the hotel. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, you will take a guided tour of Fez, the oldest imperial city in Morocco, founded in the 8th century by Moulay Idriss II. You will visit the Medina of Fez el-Bali, one of the largest preserved medieval sites in the world, declared a World Heritage Site more than 30 years ago. After the Medina, we will see the Medersa Attarine, one of the most beautiful Koranic schools in Fez. The next points on the itinerary are the Ennajarine Fountain and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, founder of Fez. Then we will go to the Karawiyin Mosque, belonging to the Karawiyin University, the oldest in history, founded in the year 880 and, finally, you will be able to visit the Medina of Fez Jdid, the new part of the city. Dinner and accommodation in Fez.
Day 2 – FEZ – IFRANE – CEDAR FOREST – ERG CHEBBI DUNES (400 km).
At 9:00 a.m. after breakfast, departure by 4×4 to Merzouga. During the journey, they will cross Ifran, the little Switzerland of Morocco, well known for its similarity. You will cross the Cedros Forest, with ancient trees, famous for its Gibraltar monkeys. Continuation through the Ziz valley, a large palm grove that will take you to your destination, the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here they will change the 4×4 for animal traction 8×8, they are the dromedaries to enter the dunes and enjoy a sunset that they will never forget. Upon arrival at the tent camp, an excellent and restorative tea awaits you, an exquisite Berber dinner and all this enlivened with the music of the tam-tam (drums). They will enjoy a unique night, thanks to the large number of stars that populate the nights of the desert. They will sleep in a Berber haima.
Day 3 – ERG CHEBBI DUNES – RISSANI – MERZOUGA (80 km).
They are already in the desert enjoying the magic of the dunes! Today, it is obligatory to get up early to see the sunrise from the top of the dunes and return in dromedaries to the hostel to have breakfast and shower. After breakfast, in a 4×4 you will get to know these lands, visiting a family of Gnawas or Bambara musicians, descendants of the slaves who came from Black Africa, and who will delight you with their traditional music. You will get to know Rissani where you will be able to admire its peculiar market, unique in these latitudes and the place where the nomadic tribes of the desert go to get supplies. Its donkey parking is very curious. The entire journey will be on a 130 km track, bordering the dunes. You will also see the oases of Merzouga, the mines of MIFISS, the desert plateaus. In the mid-afternoon they will return to the lodge to rest and have dinner. Overnight in Kasbah.
Day 4 – MERZOUGA – MIDELT (230 km).
Today it's time to rest and free time to sleep and enjoy the pool in the middle of the desert. After eating we will begin our route back to Fez. After breakfast, farewell to the desert and departure to the north of the country through the Ziz Valley, taking advantage of the freshness of the Meski blue fountain where you can rest. Continuation to Midelt where they will spend the night. Dinner and hotel accommodation.
Day 5 – MIDELT – FEZ (200 km)
After breakfast, departure to Fez, passing through the towns of Ifrane and Azrou. During the journey we will cross the Cedros Forest, with ancient trees where you can enjoy watching the Barbary macaques or Gibraltar monkeys. Upon arrival in Fez, end of route at the indicated place or transfer to the airport.
